I got a call friday while I was driving in traffic on the interstate. I called the woman back as soon as i got off the exit ramp, no answer so I left a voice mail with number, name, the works. She still hasn't called me back. What's up with that?

She may have moved on to another applicant. Not really your fault, but they probably receive hundreds of applications. You just might have missed your chance.

Did she leave a message? I once interrupted a call and the person was going to leave a message that they had chosen someone else. I thanked her and asked to be kept in mind for other openings.

Um, it's the first day back from a holiday weekend. A lot of people are gone. Five days worth of work has to be done in four. Give the woman a break. She has other things to do besides wait on you.

She may well have moved on to someone else. Or maybe she's just busy.

Was it late in the day on Friday?

I would give her until Thursday morning and if you don't hear back, call her again.

At this point in can't hurt.

I really think that 1 week is an acceptable time frame. If I send an email to a hiring manager and they don't get back to me, in 5 business days I call. If I leave a message and don't hear a reply, I send an email or call. If I try contacting twice without any reply, I get the hint and move on.

Yes it was like 3:45 or 3:50 and I called back by 4:00. I assumed she left the office with it being the labor day holiday and all.

Just keep trying.
That's the very reason I didn't take a job with a certain employer. There was this phone run-around and she wasn't very good at catching my calls. Kind of unprofessional on her part. Made me wonder how badly she needed me. lol
While she was doing that, another prospective employer called, got me an interview right away and that's the job I've been at for two years.
Ya snooze, ya loose.
