I'd apply for any job I could find. Even though I might not be qualified for it, I might be given a chance, but I don't know until I ask.

Jobs want someone with "experience"--but how do you get that until someone gives you the job?

Times are challenging and there are tons of unemployed folks applying to any and every job but not getting callbacks because (newsflash) the EMPLOYERS often do not hire OVERQUALIFIED people because they fear that as soon as something better comes along, the OVERQUALIFIED employee will jump ship! So it isn't a matter of unemployed not willing to work a job that is "beneath them" but will an employer give them the time of day.

I was looking for work about three years ago. Applied for a job, but kept my old one just in case it didn't work out. It didn't work out--I was only there for three weeks. At about the same time, I also picked up a part time job with RGIS, inventory specialists, which I would try to fit in where I could. Once the other job ended, I was able to pick up more jobs with them, but I never did get fast enough on their machines.

No, in fact, I don't see any reason to go more than five miles from your place of birth. I'm completely opposed to travel, or to people coming here, invading MY area, from other places.

Three years ago, jobs were a bit easier to find as this was before the economy went south. I sincerely hope that you are able to maintain your current employment as you will be in for a shock trying to locate work in this economy.

Nursing jobs require licensing and specialized training at the minimum. Unless you possess a valid nursing license, your application will be tossed out.

If the job opportunities exists beyond 5 miles of someone's birth, then it would be in their best interest to relocate. Many of the so-called "lazy" unemployed folks are more than willing to relocate to other states if that's what it took to become employed. You do what you have to.

There's enough people out of work with "experience" so tell me why they would want to waste their time hiring and training somebody without? I guess you could say it would be a way to save on wages but the way things are anymore even experienced employees are getting bottom of the barrel wages anyway. In that case, you might as well get the better more experienced worker.

On another post (if I remember correctly) you mentioned you have applied for up to ten jobs in a day. That sounds great but the reality of it is you could apply to 100 a day but if you aren't qualified, your application will be filled in the circular file. Time would be better served limiting your applications for jobs you are qualified for. The jobs I apply for are jobs I know I'm easily qualified for and therefore have a decent chance of getting called for an interview. Unfortunately this leaves me with maybe 4 or 5 jobs a week that are worth applying for.

And for the record, I am willing to consider lower paid work but it greatly reduces the search radius that I will look. It doesn't make economic sense to drive 30 miles one way for a job that pays 9 or 10 bucks an hour.

Because you could be charged with:

1) Assault with intent to do bodily harm
2) Murder
3) Attempted murder
4) Armed criminal action

I'm sure there are others but any and all of these would be enough to land you in a cell with a guy named Bubba who will have his way with you. I know this is something I wouldn't look forward to but everybody is different.

I don't drive. I would be walking to these jobs. I've had multiple jobs call me back when I go on my search, but I take the first one who calls back. The others are out of luck, even if the next job might pay more or be somehow "better". They need to strike while the iron is hot.

I've already noted about seven places looking to hire people in my area. I wouldn't have any trouble getting one of those jobs.
