Guy came in a bit ago wearing shorts, dirty sneakers, a dirty white undershirt with a 2" hole in the chest area.

Wanted to apply. When asked what type of work he does, he shrugged his shoulders and said, "just stuff."

Seriously.

Haha classic.

Not that it matters, but is your employer in an industry associated with the blue-collar label?

I should have mentioned that, yes, it is a blue collar industry. But they still aren't interested in someone who can't even put on a clean shirt without a hole in it to apply. The shorts were fine, and even a t-shirt (not an undershirt) is fine. But a dirty undershirt with a hole? Nope.

Not to put down ALL blue collar workers, but there are some gritty, rugged individuals who fall into that category. This guy just seems to be one of them.

Would need to see "resume" ..... based on appearance alone? Probably not, but you never know.

Forget the appearance, the fact that he didn't even have anything to offer about his skill set? No thanks.

Don't care what he's wearing, but the "just stuff" bit would turn me off. Care to elaborate much?

I wouldn't hire him based on his appearance.

My belief if --------" it's no big deal"-- when applying for a job, it will be " no big deal" when he shows up late or when he misses work days.

Well remember you're in Florida. I have seen people come into health facilities dressed almost as bad.

It blows me away, but then I stop and have to remember "you're in Flori-duh".
