Like the others have said I would wait and get more experience. Most job ads I see for accountants that pays a decent salary require like 5 years of exp.
I'm also majoring in accounting but when I took those required economic classes I fell in love. I think it's more interesting than accounting and I totally understand why you'd want to do this. But for now maybe you should do what I did and just try to learn on your own. I emailed my econ professors and ask them to recommend some good books. Or review your textbooks, I even found those interesting even though usually textbooks bore me to death.
I did it. I left the real world for grad school full time. It was a big risk, but I came out with a job doing exactly what I wanted to do and am making about 3 times as much as I was at two jobs before school (keep in mind I was basically dirt poor before going back, so I'm not totally rich). I do have some debt, but I didn't have any from undergrad, most of my grad expenses were paid, and I'm already paying them early to lessen the pain.
It's up to you, but I know MANY people that have done this and have ended up just fine, with jobs to boot.
Yeh. I'm probably going to jump and do it, but it's still a year away or so.
