Presentation is everything. A couple of weeks ago...I suddenly had this very severe reaction to something I ate - All my life I was vain - and like the mirror...never had a problem with looking good...and whether I knew it or not I benefited from being good looking.....THEN!
Getting back to the allergic reaction...I was itchy as old hell - from head to toe...finally I fell asleep...woke up about 4 am...and looked in the mirror..My eyes were almost swollen shut - my forehead was puffed up...there were these ballon like white bags hanging off my cheeks...I looked exactly like the beast in Beauty and the Beast...I was a monster......
I put ice on my face - did everything to regain my looks - nothing worked...I was afraid to make a trip to the store - even with sun glasses...I hid for three days and recovered...what did I learn from that experience? - That ugly people have a lot of guts to walk about without shame...the other thing I learned - was I am a vain jerk.
Well people tune in to see attractive people, that's life in the TV world
Probably an impossibly difficult concept for you to assimilate and I hate to break it to you but most people tune in to watch something which interests them, whether the people on the screen match their perception of attractiveness or not. If the attractiveness criteria were true, should one therefore assume that the only reason you watch TV sports is because you find the participants pleasurable to your eye?

Funny story.
You're not a vain jerk. You are aware of how life works.
There was a study that said tall people made more on average than short people. Obviously appearence matters in this world. There was a whole controversy about Abercrombie and Fitch only hiring pretty people. So yes, it happens.
I think the on-air talent are cherry picked for their looks as well as talent to handle interviews etc.
If you look at the back office rooms of these studios where all the producers and writers are that is another study and they are most average.
I would hate to see what the newspapers journalists look like !
Can an employer discriminate based on looks ? I mean you hear about age / sex discrimination all the time..This is respect to the TV news industry.
It seems that nowadays networks will are more concerned with appearance over content or intellect.
Really, I actually think Beyonce has a good voice, but I am no expert.
Agreed she probably would not gone as far if she wasnt hot. If you look at the girls she used to sing with in Destiny child where are they now.
