Do it! I waited tables through college and made enough to pay bills. I didn't have rent though. I worked 3 or so shifts a week. It was tough...school during the day, work in the evenings/late night, and then home for homework. I didn't have much of a life sometimes, but I did what I had to do and i was able to focus to do what needed to be done to make money to take care of myself and still get good grades.

I've always thought people should go to college in their late 20's! I know that isn't feasible, but man...at 19, early 20's I had no clue what I really wanted to do. Good for you for following what makes you happy!

Try working for a catering company. They sometimes hire without experience. Or you can work catering as a server since they hire more of them and then if a bartending position opens up you'll have a foot in the door.
