What are you thoughts about Linkedin? Personally, I find it to be a bit ridiculous. I don't find any of its features enjoyable. When people attempt to connect with me, they always want to know if I can find them a job. Typically these are people who I did not enjoy working with to begin with.

For me, LinkedIn is just a way to keep in touch with previous employers or co-workers. I just like knowing where people work in case I need to contact them for a reference or possibly a job. So, yes people are using it to find a job which is what I think one of the reasons for it is.

I've also had people reach out to me for a job, and if they were nice to me and I thought they were good workers, I helped them. If they were stuck-up or players, I ignored their requests.

I like it better than Facebook, since on FB I have to hear about what people are doing on vacations, etc.

I don't see it as useful in finding a job. Any contacts from others about jobs are in areas far from me and not places where I would want to move. I do find it to be very beneficial in discussions with people in the various groups that I belong to, sharing tips on various aspects of the field and specific software being used.
