It seems from your responses to posters praising you, that's exactly what you needed: someone or a group of people to repeat your opinion so you feel better about yourself. So really, it's not about your job, it's about your identity and if people aren't constantly praising you, you then pass it off as them being jealous or rude. People aren't thinking about you NOT being praised. No one is thinking, "Wow, this person hasn't been praised in a long time. Sucks to be them." The only time someone would care is if you were repeatedly being corrected or spoken down to.
Are you doing what you do just to get public praise or are you doing what you do because you have a good job and you love what you do?
If it is the former perhaps you should go into acting so you can be publicly praised all the time.
It's absolutely for the latter, but, I'm still human, and I feel like it's personal when my boss has thanked virtually everyone else for smaller feats (hell, even if someone sneezed the right way) except me.

It feels good to know that I'm not losing my mind and others are seeing things the way I do...for exactly what they are.
