it may take 5-7 days to get over it, but obviously can't take off that much. How do you deal with it, especially if you have a customer service job?

1 day to get medicine sleep all day and drink a ton of fluids. One day can help a lot if you use it right.

If it was really bad, I'd take off two days. First day I would go to the doctor and get all the meds I need. Then rest and take meds for two days. By the third day, with the help of temporary relief medicine, I should be symptom-free and non-contagious.

its pretty hard to get better in a day unless you treat it before it fully develops

2 days seems reasonable, although for me I'm still a mess and dont react well to meds

There are always exceptions. Just produce a doctors note if you feel you need more than two days off.

This is the problem with my job (and many others).

Good job people can take the time they need to get well. Crappy job people can get fired for having a cold.

It's sick.

Pretty much this. I tend not to take days off at all, even if I'm deathly ill. I'll just be less active at work and of course the boss will say "why don't you just take the day off!" and you know if you do you'll probably be written up. I came to work once with bad allergies. My eye was red, my voice was muffled, and they all thought I had pinkeye. The job was customer service heavy. You think I took the day off? Lol.

I just took it easier, but stayed.

I don't get why we can't just have sick days like everyone else. A living wage would be nice too!

Always the first 3 days when I know I'm contagious, at least.
I'm self employed.
