A woman I work with is a horrible gossiper, trying to get people in trouble. She has done this to me several times, with no luck since she is telling tall tales. I have had it it! We are having cutbacks in staff and the last thing I need is bad information going about.

Wwyd?

The best way to deal with a Gossiper is to ignore them. It's just not worth the headache and people will form their own opions about you based on his or her gossip whether you confront this person or not

Lol, I do. This woman creates drama where there is none. Am going to talk to her tomorrow.

Ok, crisis averted.

It's frustrating she tried to throw me under the bus. I want to talk to her, curious what others would do.

If she tried to throw you under the bus, was she successful? Do you both report to the same person and is that who she tried to throw you under the bus to?

You risk looking like the one creating drama if you confront her and she twists what you say and repeats it.

If you are not her superior it really isn't your place to talk to her about this issue.
Document everything in writing and file a formal complaint.

If you create unnecessary drama it is equal to creating a hostile work environment and you may be the one to pay the cut back price. Even if she is the one who has been doing this all along, the most recent incident will be the one remembered first, not the first incident involving her.

Others have said they would ignore her.

Look, if she is stupid enough to tell lies, confronting her could make things MUCH worse for you. You don't really know who you're dealing with or what motivates her. You might just spur her to make YOU her #1 target.

Ignore her, unless she directly threatens you. Then call her out. Otherwise, let her hang herself.
