I'm at a stuck point. I need some help (and sure others could use the combined wisdom here). I send out resumes for jobs in the paper (to places hiring for what I can do and not), and I am also researching companies. I've been in touch with 2 agencies. One was supposed to be helping me but 'is not online' lately. The other wants me to come down, which I may do next week. (no hopes pinned on that one..)

Do you guys have any other ideas? I don't really know many people here (just moved in September), but the ones I have met, I've told I am looking for work.
I don't want to just call up places and ask 'Are you hiring?'

Any help is appreciated.
