I once had a pretty good ebay selling selling career making $10k+/month. Eventually the baffoons making decisions at Ebay had to screw everything up. Business mellowed down when Ebay put in requirements to accept returns and a lot of people abused it forcing sellers to cut down their products offerings to minimize their exposure of ebay sales.
If you are a home seller, use ebay to get sales leads but you must have a 2nd or 3rd outlet to sell your products than depend on ebay. eBay is only looking to promote their own brand and leverage sellers to do that and you must be able to handle losses or else don't bother selling on ebay.
When I worked from home-I ran reports from home/data-entry....it was glorious. I stayed all the way till the end, as the company was going bankrupted. I knew I would never find a job like that again (and I was right)
I have 2 offices for my CPA practice, and also a home office. My issue is I'm not that great at discipline and get distracted at home and definitely get less done.
