My coworker keeps asking where I live. I told him the city but he won't give it up. He's trying to find out cross streets and more details, How do you handle intrusive coworkers who want to know every specific detail of your life? I'm a very positive person who doesn't want my coworkers to know anything about me.

he is hitting on you? tell him no... but with internet, it gets hard to stop someone just from looking you up by name and finding the area you live in. not sure if he is going that far or not....

tell him you arent interested and to stop asking.

Tell him you do not mi business with your personal life and if he asks again, give him the address to the library, liquor store, church, post office, jail, hospital, ...etc.

I tell them to mind their own business. There is no good reason to divulge such information.

You are "a very positive person who doesn't want my coworkers to know anything about me". ?????What's positive about secrecy? Have you ever had a job before? Building relationships is part of any job It doesn't mean divulging your innermost secrets, it just means building rapport with others.

I would guess from the rest of the statement this word should have been "private", you know sentence structure, content, topic at hand, common sense.........

It's none of his business. If he continues to push, I would give him the physical address of the police station.

Redirect the question. You can be vague and say the name of the city, then turn back the question to them about where they live. Maybe they want somebody to ask them that because they want to share details about a new house they bought or they are looking into moving into a different neighborhood. It would have been best to ask you instead: "Hi (your name here), I remember you mentioning you lived in (insert city here). Thinking about looking at apartments/houses there..can you tell me more about the different areas?" If you are not interested in developing the conversation further, just say you moved recently and don't know much and redirect them once again to the visitors bureau of something.
Overall, redirect and it keeps things flowing.

Ask him why he wants/needs to know. Maybe he wants to carpool or something.
