Well, I was walking in from lunch back into work and 3 of my coworkers were conversing and laughing about something. Then all of a sudden HR (owner's daughter) called me Chelsea (not my name) and they looked at me and laughed even as I stood there looking confused and I walked away as they kept laughing. No idea what this means since I have never heard this name before and it seemed weird they literally laughed in my face for no reason. They typically act fake and snobby and this is the first time that has happened.

Ewww, Im sorry OP, I just cringed at the fact that HR is the owners daughter.

I worked for a place like that in Florida, HR was the owners daughter, and they had the same snobby people and everything, just brought back bad memories lol

It's time to look for another job!

Thank goodness HR is the owner's daughter, this should automatically prevent you from going to HR to complain!

In my experience, thats precisely why the owners daughter is HR.

Like I said, I worked in that SAME set up, and it was beyond awkward, I learned that in life, unless its a functional family, its almost always better to work for yourself, or for a major company.

Not much you can do about that other than laugh along with them. They probably want you to appear insulted or confused, therefore you'd surprise them and maybe take away their fun if you just laughed along with them like you know what the joke is. I'd like to see the look on their faces if you did that. It's typical passive-aggressive behavior from those insecure with themselves.

Urban Dictionary: Chelsa

It doesn't sound too bad if the Urban dictionary is correct.

Do you bear any resemblance to Clinton's daughter?

I'm not afraid of confrontation, so I probably would have said " Excuse me, my name isn't Chelsea. Why did you call me that ?" Then I would have stood there, waiting to see what they had to say. I've found that most people like that fold when someone actually stands up to them.
