Have you ever had a employer (Doesn't matter if temp agency or company) Agree to hire you, but run you ragged in 2-4 days demanding UA/background/interviews/physical tests?

Was hired by temp agency, "You have to pass a UA and Background test"

Cool, let me know when I have to.............

"Now! We need this information, quickly! The weekend is coming! NOW! NOW!!"

Holy crap, filled out the information, had to wait till the 15th for the drug screen (They asked "Why not today?) I have a medical appointment for a shot of cortisone into my hip....Advanced arthritis...Not telling them that.

Luckily they understand most people's desire to not go into a large city quickly...

(Just got an email from them stating "Great, we need it by the 23rd" (I start on the 17th) WTF??)

If I were doing the hiring, and you were trying to delay a UA, I would suspect that you have something to hide... Like a drug habit.

Yep !! That's why the deadlines. Some illegal drugs get out of the system quick so they don't want you to delay taking that test at all.

Well, maybe you guys missed that "They" said "Do it by the 23rd" why they would say one thing then another is beyond me...

As for the drug testing, some companies now use hair follicle testing. I'm not an expert on the subject, but I hear those tests can detect ANY drug you may have used, up to a year prior to the test. I worked for a company that did this. However, I guess it's a lot more expensive so some companies don't do this.

One possibility is that many companies in an effort to save money and streamline the drug testing have switched to presumptive testing versus confirmation testing. If you are sent in today and have a negative presumptive test, there is no reason to spend time and money on a confirmation test. But if for any reason there is a delay by the candidate to the testing, the company will probably order the more intensive confirmation test.

Yes there's the "Hair" test and yes it goes back 30 days, but the job that would be requiring that would be several steps above my pay grade....

While I see where you are coming from... Yet, the majority of the population do not do drugs -- I don't think delaying drug test is a admission of guilt. Plus , I cannot think of many companies / industries that DO NOT drug test anymore...

Hair folical tests are expensive ( and intrusive), unless at a high level security, driving, or demanding physical activity , most use a simple 5 pan.

I lost a job due to the unrealistic requirements after I was hired...Litter ally wanted me to quit my current job ON THE SPOT to do an onslaught of drug testing , credit checks, notary etc. Explained I need the standard "two weeks" out of respect to my current company was basically told tough ****.. ( Probably best didn't take that job)

Dang it, could have gotten 2 more days of work...Then again, was ready to take a customers head off Tuesday....No matter dropped off the vest and will await Monday...Have LFT tomorrow anyway (Lung Function Test)

I don't see the problem here. The only thing that takes any real time is the drug test, and that is a quick trip to the nearest facility for a sample, which might take 15 minutes.

Background, credit, and any other checks are done by a third party, not the job applicant. Other than signing a form to provide permission to do this, it takes no time at all.

You are making a big deal out of nothing.
