I'm ending my second year with Aflac. Have read some of the old threads and comments regarding satisfaction with Aflac pros and cons.

I basically agree with most of what's been said by current and former Aflac agents.

1. It's basically a good solid company.
2. Turnover of agents is high as with other insurance companies, apparently - 80%-90% in the first two years.
3. Compensation plan is pretty good with residuals. That's why I'm still in.
4. Don't care for the hype that marketing directors put on to promote themselves.
5. No quota for the field agent....although you do have to produce or they will suspend your writing number.
6. Regional sales coordinator is a good role model.....can't say the same for some of the district coordinators.
7. I would grade their training system a D. Probably the same as other companies like Colonial and Unum.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

How much do you make and how many hours do you put in?

It was all purely commission and cold calls when I interviewed with them a few years ago. The duck is cute though! LOL

The compensation is front loaded to the first two years (30%-40% of the annual premium). After that, it drops to 7%. It depends on how many new accounts you open and the number of clients (employees) in each account. The hours you put into it is mainly in marketing and servicing the accounts - depends on the size of the company. Marketing directors will tell you that your income can be six figures but that's not for the average agent. You can make 35k-50K per year with 25-35 accounts of 15-20 employees if you calculate the average numbers. I'm not there yet.

Yeah, strictly commission which has both benefits and drawbacks. I like it because I have more control of my own income and time. It doesn't depend on someone else paying me for using up my time to build their business or to get them a promotion. Been there, done that.
