I'd go with a older worker. If they are willing to accept the wage I am paying I'd go for them due to that I have met many older workers and they always showed, did their jobs and left on time.

I had an employer who told me that the moment I got out of my vehicle, I was hired. I was 55, had a limp and was willing to work PT for him. He preferred older workers everytime over younger, but his second in command was half my age, but he'd had a rough start, but got his head turned around and then came back to the employer and begged to be let back in. The employer gave him one more chance and was glad he did.

With all else being equal I would take the older person, because they are in a protected class that suffers from discrimination, and at that age need to be building for their retirement. With the experience required, it's not likely that a 25 year old would qualify anyway.

I'd hire the more attractive one, all else being equal. The retirement issues of the oldie are of no concern to me.

For the vast majority of positions, a person aged 45 would be the ideal candidate. They are at the top of their games, not too old to lose hunger or be clueless with technology, and not too young to still be learning and without perspective. Peak earning years should be 40 to 55.

Age wouldn't enter into it. If it is really, truly, absolutely all else being equal, then which one will work for less. If even that is equal, then coin toss.
