Hi everyone... I am eagerly trying to get a job as a security guard. A little bit about my situation first... I am currently renting out an apartment in Trenton, NJ because I am going to take the police test to try and work in the city as a cop. I am stuck working at shop rite as of now until I find a better job and am desperately trying to find something else as I am having a tought time paying rent... I mean barely squeaking by, sometimes not that lucky. And I cant move back with my parents because I have to be a "city" resident to take the police test... So... I am looking for a job as a security guard because it pays better and would give me full time hours. Not to mention it somewhat resembles a cop's duties. I tried applying online to a company named AlliedBarton I belive 3 weeks ago but they did not respond to my application. Is there something else I can do? Can I talk to someone in person out there? How would I go about trying to get in contact with a company that hires security guards? Any help at all would be greatly appreciated as I am barely hanging on right now trying to make rent lol! Thanks...

One of the better kept secrets about security guard jobs is at your federal building. IF NJ is like the rest of the country, the officers at the federal building are actually security guards. Any federal controlled building that has security will usually be under the same contract. Go talk to one about applying. Pay is also a lot better than one would expect

Considering that you have just brought back a thread that has been dead for three years, maybe you should go to medical school instead.

If your manager doesn't have the answer to your problem, you need another manager.

Great first post.
