I found this video and never even realized this was a viable career path. Not even my school at the time had this as an available path. I learned how to do CGI back in 2008, made a couple videogames in my spare time using the same strategies the video illustrates. Some projects to this day, while not getting off the ground are still stuck in the prototype phase (patent searches stop me in my tracks since I worry about infringement) I'd like to think that qualifies as experience.
Question is, even with extensive internet searching these jobs seem to reside in the big cities with high COL. Is this a stable career path or does it have a high turn over? I'm doing the mid life career change and narrowed my choices between this and IT since I'm not the mindset to flock to medical.
How would one set up a portfolio of work?
Is the payscale worth the risk living in a large city?
room for further growth?
Any meaningful thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
