Yes, my hyundai isn't the best in the snow and the job was minimum wage with my shift being 4 hours. I determined that my life wasn't worth $30. The boss got kind of annoyed but I quit like a month or so later.

Yes, it's sometimes unavoidable when working the mountains here.

Yes, once or twice (NYC). The timing of snowfall reeked, so the businesses/landlords near me had had no time to clear sidewalks, and also the borough staff were pretty poor at cleaning subway steps so sometimes, you could get there fully intact, but not be sure you'd ever be able to totter your way down the hillocks of snow covering the backs of all the steps (my philosophy was, if I could make it to the subway, I'd show up).

I haven't read of all the comments, but yes, I have many times. I lived in Chicago for 25 years and as we got older it was harder for us to keep our cars dug out. Thankfully I worked for a very compassionate company during such times, and it wasn't a big deal. I was far more valuable to them to worry themselves over it. My oldest got out of school 1 day but not because of snow; because the boiler was broken and there was no heat in the school. We moved to SC in 2003 and my granddaughter who is in 4K this year has already had 2 snow days! We just aren't prepared for it like they are in Chicago! I'd slide down my 20% grade driveway right into my neighbor's car. I'm not going anywhere when it snows or ices down here!

No, I have not used a snow day but I would if I had to.

LOL - it's snowing here now - and I work for Caltrans. My commute is 1/2 mile. LOL. So.... I'll be late in the morning - sweeping off my car and making my way to it, etc (and I'll gladly use my annual leave) - they don't want me to break my neck - and I'm glad about that!! I'm 61 and, "been there, done that", enough, thank you.

Hells yeah! Especially with a child at home from school.

I dont know what is more tempting, calling in because of snow or because of 95+ degree weather.

Many years ago, we had wintry weather two days in a row (Monday and Tuesday). On the Monday, it wasn't as bad as the forecast claimed, but the governor was still advising people to stay off the roads. I kept calling my office every ten minutes, trying 5 different people's extensions, just to hear any human voice tell me the office was open. I finally got ahold of my boss at 9:30 (I typically arrived at 9:00). She basically said, yes we're open and anyone who stays home is getting docked a vacation day. Five minutes later, I was on my way.

The very next day it snowed again. Much worse. Without a single doubt in my mind, I left for work on time and trudged through the messy roads to get there. There was one other person in the entire building. It was not my boss.

Yes, but it's been years.

Once I did it in 1998 because...it was 1998...and remote working wasn't really a thing back then.

Once I did it in 2004 because we didn't have the capability to work remotely at that office and I was completely stuck 30 miles from work. Public transportation was shut down and there's no way I was going to drive a FWD 25 miles in 9 inches of snow.

Nowadays if it snows...which in Dallas is a BIG if...I just WFH.
