I bet they interviewed others and could get a replacement fairly quick.

My resignation letter was as follows:

Dear Joe,

This is my two week notice.

I had his name written on the outside of the envelope. When I handed it to him he said a very bad word. He knew what it was.

22 years and bye-bye aholes.

Op,short and formal .

I made a brief resignation letter that got my point across while leaving them food for thought. Such as it was : I've chosen to broaden my valued talent in a career that welcomes ingenuity.

For those last 2 weeks I was scoffed at for daring to pursue my calling. That place considered it a slap in the face that any minion would dare to think they are capable of being more then a dust collector.
I like to think I left them with a bit to consider that maybe they have it all wrong by holding ppl back.
Good luck in your new career, hope the joy out does the pay and benefits.

Short and sweet cuts both ways. Unless you're one of those with a lengthly contract the employer can cut you in most jurisidcitons without a reason in the first few weeks. This applies the other way around as well, in your case.

And in law those employers don't have to give a reason. Nieither do you.

Not bad.
They were very disappointed but said that they understand....as they agree that their benefits are definitely lacking. Oh well, I'm sure they'll be ok. I got another 4.5 days....

The only way any company will improve their compensation package is if people are honest about their reasons for leaving.

If the company keeps losing qualified employees to the competitors for this reason, perhaps they will decide to do something about it?

I think you did just fine. :-)
