Also, how often do you fly? If it’s only a couple of times a year, then you’re wasting money on precheck.
Having Precheck is not a waste of money in almost every scenario except not flying again after getting it. That and only enrolling on TSA Precheck instead of NEXUS or Global Entry.
If a person flew 1 round trip flight a year they could be paying as little $4 to at most $10 for Precheck per flight. That is almost nothing compared to the other fees charged by most airlines.
The best way to get the most for your money, assuming you don't have a credit card that reimburses you for your enrollment fee, is to be able to get to an enrollment near the Canadian border easily and sign up for the NEXUS program and have your enrollment appointment the day after your birthday. This way you only pay $50, get TSA Precheck and Global Entry benefits and have nearly 6 years before you have to renew. The next best option is enrolling in Global Entry, the extra $15 is worth it if there is the slightest possibility that you will take even 1 International trip in the next 5 to 6 years.
Non-issue IMHO. Do whatever is more convenient for you. If it was our team we probably would’ve also teased you about it but in a harmless way. I wouldn’t give it a second thought. Who cares?
I don't see why any person with a job who travels for work at least 4x a year WOULDN'T have precheck. You are not submitting any information that the government doesn't already know about you. So there's no argument from the privacy side.
No reason to stand in line together when you're all ending up in the same spot anyway. Sounds like the boss is joking a bit, using a inconsequential situation as an excuse to give grief.
Perhaps have some quick replies ready? Something like "Do you need someone to hold your hand?"
Now days if you make more than a couple of trips a year it's nuts not to have Precheck. My origin airport is SeaTac, there are more precheck gates than general boarding and the public line is horrific.
Wonder if OP would complain if a coworker got upgraded and they didn't. Just silly to see what people get upset about these days.
They need to share the same room with coworkers, joint at the hips 24/7 until trip is over
