So to follow up, my daughter is a lawyer and I asked her why they would ask such a question. She said it’s for EEOC data collection (me: shrugs shoulders)
I take this test on a computer. The question asked is if I am a transgender. They have absolutely no reason whatsoever to ask me this. Totally unrelated to a test I am taking on the computer.
Sorry, I apologized upthread already - was not attentive in reading your post.
Did you ask your superiors? Why would you need to answer that?
Was it an optional question?

It's possible they are also analyzing the test response results as it pertains to how males and females interpret the results of the EKGs. Since they most likely only know your physical birth sex to go by, they ask about transgender to incorporate that (in whatever way they are analyzing this) into their evaluation. Just a guess.

This is the most likely answer. Every dang thing out there asks about race and gender. Mostly because everyone has to prove they gave every special interest group equal opportunity and equal scores. The lengths we go to these days to prove something isn't biased is astounding and makes for plenty of work for lawyers on both sides.

Did they also ask you for your age and race, i.e. the demographic questions on a lot of forms?
Then use this answer.
Looks like they use the test for a data collection as well -could be for use in HR, research or even for selling some data to third parties - pretty sure it would be anonymous if for sale.
This data collection is getting out of hand everywhere, they even tag the cell phones in the store aisles to gage your interests towards certain products.
You have the right to know what the company does with this data - ask

I have to agree with you. Think of the money companies could save if they didn’t have to hire lawyers.
