How are POST BACCALAUREATE certificates viewed in the workplace / job hunting process? (esp. in California)
Do employers look down upon them or do they see them as an advantage?
I only ask because here in Cali you can't get a masters degree in a specific field like logistics, for example. The public schools only offer general masters degrees like biology, or music or professional degrees.
So if one knows what specific field they want to go into, like logistics mgmt, should they get a post baccalaureate certificate in logistics or say a MBA in general business?
Which has more weight? Would an employer choose the MBA or the person with the logistic certificate, assuming all else is equal, for the logistics position?

I know USF is not a state school, but I bet they have information session where you could get some answes : Supply Chain Management, 100% Online From University of San Francisco! (http://www.usanfranonline.com/form/usn/form-usnud/ - broken link)
A neighbor works in logistics, but I haven't a clue if he has specialized training. My guess is that the overall combination of experience & education varies for each position.

I think the comparison of a post baccalaureate certificate compared to a Masters is going to depend on a few variables: type of program, experience in the field, job requirements, and prior major from first degree. Often times post-bac certificates can be beneficial when they are complimentary to your bachelors degree. In cases where it is a change in career it may be less helpful in professional fields but helpful in paraprofessional fields.
I would suggest looking at job listings related to the post-bac you're interested in and review the degree requirements. Also remember, that graduate program will have a more rigorous curricula compared to a post-bac. Often jobs requiring Masters will not accept certificate program in lieu of the graduate degree.

It depends upon what the market is asking for. Check out the logistic jobs out there and research what employers are requesting before jumping into a masters degree or certificate program.
