Well, I guess there is no skirting the issue. We are in trouble. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but things are what they are. We may as well just see things realistically. If nothing else, everyone looking can stop beating themselves up for not finding a job...

Companies are not only laying off but many are instituting hiring freezes so the potential for finding work gets ever smaller.

If Wal-Mart isn't hiring, yep for sure people who are running out of money in UI is going to REALLY have a hard time finding temporary work.

We are, at best, 25% through a global economic depression.

Things are going to get much, MUCH, worse before they get any better. Most of you cannot even conceive of how bad things are going to get. You are not psychologically prepared to accept that your children have no future and that you will most likely be forced to work until you die.

Load your guns.
Desperate people do desperate things to survive.
Even normaly decent folks can get to the point of being overwhelmed and committing bad acts and acting on spur of the moment ideas when it comes to having no money for food, rent, etc.
Protect yourself.

Ugh.. And for those of you who are getting unemployment, consider yourselves lucky. My former employer is fighting against providing me with UI so we're living off what little savings we have, and let me tell you - that ain't much.

Let's put it this way; if I don't find a decent paying job within three months, we'll be behind the 8-ball and will probably lose everything.

fight for your unemployment, if he laid you off or fired you for any reason other than a crime basically you will win!

I'm fighting it through appeals, but that takes time; something we don't have a lot of. The CEO of my former company is one of the most ruthless people for whom I have ever worked.

there is noway he can win unless he proves ONE OF 2 things, one you quit, or two you committed some kind of crime . This he needs to prove this . But just saying you made a big mistake, or screw up something does not count you out for collecting. If he says you stole, embezzelled, sexually abused or smoked pot he needs to prove that !!! HE CAN SAY WHATEVER HE WANTS BUT HE NEEDS TO BACK UP AND PROVE THIS.
