Oh, well... "Scuse" my English, I migrated to US about 8 years ago.

From Kazakhstan, where the 'GLORIOUS NATION" is living

Sure, at first - cultural shock. A BIG one!

Few stupid things I did here in US.

One - I put pijama's pants and go to the Ralfs for shopping. Couldn't figure out why people looking at me with different expressions on their faces...

Another one, was more serious and involved my lack of English. At work place in my report to the manager of the department instead of using word "guys", I used "gays"...

Mostly all funny things happened with the language.

Regards to all.

Greeks certainly aren't off-limits in conversations with Turks. There is kind of a Greek/Turk rivalry, mostly coming from the Greeks in my Turkish friends' opinion. But a few Greeks do still live in Turkey, and I met some Turks who were half-Greek (or half-Bulgarian. That's another common mix) so obviously they do get to know each other. I never heard anyone mention Armenians.

Turks seem to feel Kurds are thieves, and that they have too many children and don't take care of them.

Hmmm. Yes I have. Went to Manus Island off the coast of Papua New Guinea, on business. Met the Papuan provincial governor. I needed his support for my project ( I was a U.S. federal executive managing global warming research ). I went to the meeting wearing a three-piece-suit. He showed up bare-chested and wearing a grass skirt. It was awkward! But that's NOT the best part. Turns out he had attended Harvard, was very well educated, intelligent, etc.

Anyway, and here's the best part. Several years later I went back to Manus for a site dedication ceremony. I opted for very casual. he showed up wearing, you guessed it, a three-piece suit. He and I couldn't stop laughing.

My son and I went to Costa Rica both speaking lousy spanish. Went into a McDonalds, ordered, lots of difficulty, back and forth with the employee for several minutes. We paid, seemed like a lot of money, but oh well. When they called our number, we had 8 big mac's, 4 cheeseburgers, 6 orders of fries, and 4 cokes.
We looked at each other, looked around and everyone was looking at us.
We decided to act non shalant, sit there and eat everything even if it took hours.
Never went back to that McDonalds.
