I really don't understand why some of you are giving cultural contribution and/or pop culture to Australia. Worldwide it barely registers relatively speaking. Someone's even given history to Oz! Really!?

My opinion.
Politics, without the Irish and Scottish indepedent movements. Australian states do not differ much in politics and policies.
Economy, benefit from a smaller population, large area and resources, and close trade links with the growing economy of Asia, especially China.
Climate, from tropical to freezing in some locations, snowfall being rare. This means a variety of agriculture products
Cuisine, Australia has more influences from East and Southeast Asia
