What country have you VISITED (not asking what you think) where you found the people to be the coldest? How about the warmest?

I found the people in Germany to be very nice but at the same time very cold.
I found the people in Puerto Rico to be extremely warm. Your experiences?

I have visited both of the countries you have mentioned, and have found the people in both to be warm. It's just that with Germans, you need to get acquainted with them before they really warm up to you. I've been to nine countries in Europe, some more than once. That said, all of the lasting friends I've made in Europe are in Germany.

Cold: Norway. Warm: Russia, Romania. The French are nice, too, contrary to rumor.

I found the puerto ricans to be very standoffish and cold. Or that was because the ones I came in contact with we're Yankees.

The cayman islands were very warm and welcoming.

I've never been to the Caymans, but I found the Puerto Ricans to be very warm and demonstrative. I read a study once that found that Puerto Ricans touch their friends in some manner up to 180 times per hour. That's even more than the Italians, Greeks, or the French are said to touch each other.

Coldest: the US, despite appearances of gregariousness at corporate parties. They say the opposite of love is not hate, it is indifference, and Americans are indeed the most indifferent/self-absorbed people I have ever met. This is not apparent when you visit as a tourist. It becomes apparent only when you live there and immerse yourself in the culture.

Warmest: certain counties of Eastern Europe (like Moldavia), Italy.

First I ever heard about Puerto Ricans being like that in Puerto Rico. Even though these are generalizations in which Puerto Ricans can be cocky and conceited, they are also very warm people and very friendly. They are very touchy and even when first being introduced they give you a kiss a cheek (unless of course its' a man and man).
