So claiming that an American invented the light bulb, and claiming that Europe does not 'use' democracy, is 'spot on'? In what world? Heck, even claiming that the airplane originated from the US is a stretch.

Is not a question of being anti-American or not, it's just a question of dignity!

1) Las Vegas Sands were trying to force Spanish government to decrease gambling taxes from 45% to 1%.
It's a bad thing encourage spot traders while having a bad government right now, which is responsible to raising taxes of basic foodstuffs and energy prices, at the same time than inept Spanish government impose on us also social cutbacks.
No wonder social sacrifice for the good of well-heeled became unpopular!

Don't forget Las Vegas Sands was almost brankruptcy in autumn 2008, so it's not a good idea to put all the egs in one basket.
Thus, Spain has his own collapse of the real estate bubble in 2008, so we have learned we don't need another huge especulative project anymore.

2) Las Vegas Sands were trying to change our labour rigths and immigration laws to bring us tens of thousands of Asian slave workers to built EuroVegas resorts.

3) Las Vegas Sands seems to be related near tobacco multinationals, as they were trying to break down our strong smoke-free law, which ban smoking in all enclosed public spaces, including bars, restaurants and casinos.

4) Las Vegas Sands were trying to privatizing profits and socializing losses. They wanted high demands of compensation due to loss of profit, also high and insultanting compensations for future change of laws.

This show the wholly high-handed way in which Sheldon Adelson operates.
Affortunately, there will not be anything like this in Europe.

There are amusement parks in Europe, kids here are not bereft of fun rides. Disney is fine, but it did not bring fun rides to millions of suffering European children.

We don't need those stupid huge resorts to have fun in Europe, just we can get enough of it in our human beautiful cities.
How was that an answer to my post? Just correcting the annoying misconception that Macau is just gambling. It's nothing like Vegas, it has more history than Hong Kong, a unique culture and is home to many people going about their daily lives. Maybe its becoming more like Vegas, but it has far more depth and isn't so theme park like.

I know, but I was pointing out that many Europeans do go to America for things like theme parks, which most children would enjoy more than old churches or museums. Dunno what that has to do with suffering children...

Amusement parks for children are right, but there is not necessary to built huge children resorts everywhere, as children usually pretends that everything is a toy. They have fun everywhere, even in boring places.

Anyway and being back of topic, this thread is for EuroVegas Madrid, which is much harmful for economy and society than huge children fun resorts, and affortunately this disproportionately huge project of gambling was canceled two days ago.

Yes, they were, but not everyone agrees that they were the first to fly.

We in Spain have given undisputable proof of our desire to frightening EuroVegas during the last two years.

Once the derogation of this gambling massive project was know two days ago, too many people here celebrate it in social networks sites by posting something like this:

Looks like Sheldon Adelson now is looking for a Japanese or Korean equivalent of Las Vegas.
Do Japanese and Korean people like massive drug trade, breaking down tobacco laws, being used for a mess of pottage or having lots of black money of dubious origin?
It's their problem, not ours.

I don't understand why people don't want attractions such as shopping centers, gambling, theme parks/amusement parks, McDonald's, Starbucks, Burger King, Wendy's have big box stores like Best Buy, Walmart, big cool highways...I'm from a small town and we don't have a lot of that and well to me it's like a novelty and I like it.
