EU 100% its more varied, cultured and foods more interesting The fact that you can choose over 27 countries and cultures is amazing, the whole point of the EU is in a way to become more progressive which is why Turkey wants to join the EU, human rights laws seem more strict in the EU, animal rights too.
actually, 28. get with the times... didn't your favorite city join the EU this summer?
I would like to compare the US to the European Union. I'm sure it has been done before but these are the factors in which I would like to compare these two.
-Political Stability
-Religious, racial, gender, Lgbt equality
-Infrastructure
-Quality of life
-Economic stability
-Overall culture/way of life
Which one would you rather live in?
This topic has not only been done before, it has been beaten to death with a blunt instrument time and time again and again.
Thanks for narrowing down the criteria, at least you encompass just about everything under the sun and then even everything where the sun don't shine.
Anyway, for me the same answer as the time before, the time before that, and the time before that: as a taxpayer and small business owner, the US by far, in comparison it is a continent-wide tax haven and there are select state-wide tax havens within that tax haven; as a student or retiree with cultural interests, select places in the EU. In the meantime, there is enough cultural diversity in select parts of the US that one could at least pretend that he is in a select part of the EU that matches his cultural interests.
On the other hand, if one feels that he is getting a good deal for his tax euro in an EU country, and/or has satisfying family ties, including perhaps a successful, well connected local family business or a nice career as a self-employed professional or with a large organization like a government agency or a utility company or a multi-national, then the EU by far.
Other than that, all of your criteria, which encompass everything under the sun and then some, overall on balance are about a tie.

-political stability who cares?... Mickey mouse versus godzilla?
-religious, racial, gender, lgbt equality do you mean freeloaders living at the expenses of buzzwords? Us
-infrastructure eu
-quality of life eu
-economic stability us

Edging towards the EU. Tea party obstructionism and gun culture is wreaking havoc on the US.
These reasons favor the EU for me as well. Most Americans are blissfully unaware of how dangerous those traits are.
As for the other criteria, like some have said, they are mainly impossible to answer as too many are lumped together. Those vary widely within the US so the gap will be wider in Europe. Comparing Washington state to Alabama is absurd so comparing Ireland to Greece is stupidly ridiculous.
It really depends on multiple factors such as education, gender, and income. Your hobbies and your political orientation also play a huge factor. Honestly I would choose southern Spain over any other country because they have a lovely climate, excellent public transportation excellent food, friendly people and a tolerant liberal atmosphere with low crime. However, because of their currently terrible economy, Southern California meets my needs more at the moment.
