Unless you are real keener and shovel even when only 2 cm of snow fall, you will never shovel that much here during an average winter. I probably shovel an average of 5 to 7 times during an average winter from December to March. Some winters it's less than 5 times. I shovelled more in December but since the start of 2014 I have shovelled only once or twice.
Winter actually is a nice break from outdoor maintenance: no mowing, weeding, watering, swimming pool cleaning, etc.

And here on the west coast from May to October the grass grows so fast we have to mow the lawn every week, sometimes twice a week depending on if we get any rain in the summer. Rarely have to shovel snow more than a couple of times through all of winter though, so that makes up for all the grass mowing.
