Australia is very, very far from ugly. What it's scenery most certainly is, is unique.

While it falls short of being spectacular I've always believed the Australian Alps are under appreciated.

Grayish green, as you describe, is beautiful for me. Gives character and warm vibe.

Tbh, a landscape that is greener than green looks artificial and monotonous. I like a little colour in my landscape - olive here, green there, brown here....

It's dry, brown, and ugly but it has a great climate for comfort...I would take that deal.

Some of Australia is dry and brown but it a huge country with great variety. Some parts of the US are dry and brown as well.
