It's beautiful! We went to England a couple of years ago and spent just three days in London and a week in the Yorkshire countryside and while I would have loved to spend more time in both places, I am glad we spent so much time in the peaceful beauty of the Yorkshire dales and moors and along the coast.

Then talk about the closest town or city to where you, there must be a place you refer to when they ask you where you live, for example the place i live has 60k inhabitants and offers nothing culturally but i still talked about it

It's gorgeous as are most of the Art Deco buildings still present in Detroit, too bad that some of them are in a state of profound decay, Detroit certainly has heaps of potential, i hope it can sort out the economical problems it's in

Right. I live in a smallish town but we're close to a smallish city - LOL. And we're also about an hour or so from the DFW metro area. So I talked about stuff we'd do in my small town, and stuff we'd do in the small city nearby, and then stuff we'd do in Dallas and Fort Worth.

It's not that hard to come up with some fun stuff.

In fact, we have some friends coming for a visit from Belgium in a few weeks. They're familiar with this area because they've visited before. I asked THEM what THEY want to do and here's what they said:

1. Go shopping at resale and antique stores.
2. Eat lots of Tex Mex food.
3. Drive around and look at local real estate and neighborhoods - just out of interest. They are currently building a home in Belgium so they like to compare prices and such.
4. Go to the Fort Worth stockyards and maybe catch a rodeo.
5. Visit a local grocery store and mall.
6. Drive around the local countryside.

Easy peasy!

Honestly, i wasn't in the right mood that day and i forgot to tell about what to do in the surroundings.

Half a hour from here you can visit a XIII century castle, which was Fredrick II hunting residence, it's a World Heritage Unesco sight, this place is called Castel del Monte:

Also about half a hour to the south east, there's Trani which is a city by the sea known for its pictoresque medieval historic center and its nighlife.

Half a hour to the east, there are the 2nd largest salines in Europe, next to them there's a spa town which is known for its beaches and for its nightlife in the summer. 30 km to the north there's a large city which has a decent historic center for shopping, it doesn't offer much culturally.

40 km to the south there are Melfi which was the summer residence of Emporor Fredrick II and was considered a unofficial capital of the Holy Roman Empire during his reign and boasts a large historic centre and an impressive castle and Venosa, which has an interesing historic center and Roman ruins
