I get the sense that most people find life in either country to be roughly equivalent.
The vast majority of Canadians I know who moved to the U.S. never came back to Canada. And vice-versa, most Americans I've known in Canada aren't yearning to go back to the U.S.
I've lived my life between English Canada and French Canada, and the only exception to this rule where there is a blip showing slightly more returnees might be French Canadians working in the U.S. who move back to Quebec once they have kids because they want them to be French-speaking. (Many French Canadians also do this return-to-Quebec-with-kids thing after working in English Canada as well...)

(Not saying this is accurate BTW, just reporting on the conventional wisdom in Canada.)
In my tribe on the Canadian side of the border we often say the opposite of that. That Canada has all of the cons of America, but without any of the pros. It is all perspective I suppose, but for some obvious reasons we never bought into the humble "Canada is the best country in the world" belief that is hammered into mainstream Canadian society from day 1 of school. I find Canadians to be far more in your face ignorantly nationalistic than Americans, contrary to the stereotype. Think of a person bragging. "Being Canadian I am more polite and well mannered than you unsophisticated morons". Meanwhile he lives the exact same way as the supposed unsophisticated morons and jealously emulates their every move.

I read about Aboriginal Canadians before and how they're treated by Mainstream Canada, proves that Canada isn't great.

I find it really atrocious how Canada treats its aboriginals. Many of its reservations, that I could find on the internet, say conditions on the reserves border 3rd world. I used to think the US treats its aboriginals badly, but they are more integrated and better served than in Canada. Well, what's your perspective?
