I love both places, but as I live in California, I'll go with that, we have beautiful forests of redwoods, pines etc and also some fumaroles & a mudpot in Lassen Volcanic Park. Yosemite is always stunning. The buildings & architecture are superior in Italy, but for Natural Beauty I will say California has a greater range.

In general, buildings in Italy tend to be older than many in California. You can walk down the very same street that Michelangelo walked through who knows when and it still looks the same. You can’t truly do that in much of California. I say that alone makes any comparison of the infraestructure between California and Italy a moot point.

In terms of the Giant Redwoods (Giant Sequoias), they now thrive in other non native countries such as the UK, where they receive plenty of water and being no native don't have many diseases or competitors to effect their growth.
California cut down around 95% of it's Redwoods due to logging, leaving around 80,000 today, by contrast Redwoods became fashionable status symbols with land owners in the UK, and many planted these massive trees from seeds bought back from the US back in Victorian Times, so the UK now has over 500,000 Redwoods, which is over six times as many as California.

Those look pretty spindly to me. That doesn't look anything like a real redwood forest. The majestic quality is absent. It looks artificial.
