Actually, yes, you can use blanket statements about the whole of Europe. What's happening in one country will surely spread to all of them. That's how Islamic terrorists work. That's their goal. That's their history.
Terrorist threats aren't the only thing to consider though. You mentioned Portugal. Portugal's King can do whatever he wants, whenever he wants, overriding any laws or their constitution. They're also in drought (again) and the number of forest fires there keeps increasing. They're broke, interest rates are extremely high and they're a drain on the EU, which is about to collapse themselves.
Europe is gone. They just don't know it yet. Russia is run by an egotistical communist dictator whose without jobs or freedoms. The list goes on. Name a country you think is doing great?! Evidence will prove otherwise.
Make the best of where you are now and hold on tight. It's only going to get worse. And this coming from someone who is not a pessimist. Just looking at facts. Think the world is in dire straights? Buckle up. You haven't seen anything yet. These, right now, are the "good old days" compared to what's quite literally just around the corner.

I strongly advice NOT to read it if you want to know more about Portugal. Although it is kinda of funny!
Especially since Portugal has one of the strongest economic growth in the eurozone with unemployment divided by 2. And the projections for the future are very encouraging.
