The US is not unique in that sense that it has those kind of people but people of that stock from US seem to be especially vocal and visible presenting their worldview. The best universities in the US aside, that's a clear failing of the education system in the US, capping the US at 7 out of 10 for me.
Because it’s by far the largest developed nation on the planet. That means you get more of the good, the bad and the ugly (pun intended). You have to look at other big countries such as Brazil, India, China and Russia to find those levels of religious lunatics and conspiracy theorists. School shootings, however, remain largely an American thing.

Despite having all that, the US is still the only nation to have landed humans on the Moon. For what it’s worth, as a Canadian, I consider the US the greatest nation on Earth, but not the best (those are different things).

As an American, the US is not that great.

Hollywood and the American propaganda machine has produced huge amounts of propaganda that makes local and foreign hordes believe the US is without a single shadow of doubt the greatest place to be.

The reality is all those great american cities like NYC, miami Beach, LA by the coast are expensive and suitable only for very wealthy people who can afford to live there

The average American is a lot poorer than people think. While it's true there is amyriad of opportunities, it's also true you have to work yourself to the bone to gain a certain economic freedom and even then it's a gamble.

Health care, education, even infrastructure is the best in the world, ONLY is you can afford it, if you can not afford to pay or live in the right zip code, you will be stuck in the cycle of poverty with little help.

There are people in this country that still don't have running water, nor electricity. On YouTube there is even a report on people on adult illiteracy in modern America.

American cities are terribly planned, they depend on cars so that you can move around. This creates a very steryle atmosphere, you will hardly have human contact, it's all shopping malls and highways full of giant cars and giant people driving them.

YOU NEED A HUGE AMOUNT OF MONEY TO SUSTAIN YOUR LIFESTYLE HERE, that means you work like a slave to be able to stay afloat.

This is a very depressing place to be. I don't like this county despite being born in it.

For generations americans and people all over the world always bought the myth of the greatness of this land.... many left everything they owned to come here only to end up miserable and stuck.
That is changing though, the reality is that with the internet, younger Americans are realizing this country has a lot of problems and in many ways it sucks big time.

This is why an increasing amount of americans are moving abroad, many even renouncing their US citizenship.

By the way, there are only two countries all over the world that tax their citizens even if they don't live nor work in their country of origin.
One of them is Djibouti, and the US calls that a violation of human rights, and the other one is the US. (in that instance we call that the privilege of being an American citizen).

I give the US a 6.5 to a 7.

In what country can you live a luxurious lifestyle (big house, cars, vacations, etc.) without working hard for it, inheriting a lot of money or maybe winning the lottery?

If you want a traditional single family detached home for only yourself then the coasts are getting unsustainable. But people in most of the world are used to smaller living spaces with multi generations in one dwelling. One reason places like NY and CA are loosing population to other states but more than gaining in international migration. Most of the urban world even middle class people living in what Americans would call a cheap condo / apartment.

What makes you think I am talking about a wealthy lifestyle?

Here in America we need thoussnds to be able to afford a cookie cutter house in the suburbs, and to afford healthy food.

Let's not forget money for college, Healthcare and more.

Oh, and we depend on cars, insurance, car notes, registration and more,.

Even the frugal in America need a pretty penny to stay afloat.

Americans lack common sense, this is a nation of home owners with huge yards and plenty of sunshine, yet they spend thousands on groceries when they could grow their own food.

Is also a nation of wasteful shoppers.

Wait a minute - if to listen to some people on the Politics forum, all this comes exclusively "through the hard work" in America)))

Are you saying they are wrong?

In Russia you only need to be related to or close friends with a government official to get rich.

A few years ago I traveleced to New York and went to mass at St Patricks Cathedral .
At the end of the Mass everyone sang the "AMERICA AMERICA "Hymn With such enthusiasm That was impressed.

I even stayed at the next mass to see if the overwhelming enthusiasm was reapeted with him the
Himn "AMERICA AMERICA" and was sung again and indeed the enthusiasm that at was impreseed
was repeated.-

I was excited to think that perhaps the explanation for that enthusiasm was that it is a country of emigrants who were conviced as their parents or grandparents had come fleeing from wars and poverty to the Paradise where they lived now and that ther was no place as wonderful as America.

I thought it was lucky for them that these normal people do not know how as live other people in France Italy Spain,Switzerland ,etc,etc.-
