I love NYC architecture, but the skyline is totally unimpressive. Its so dense and large, you can't take much of it in from any given angle. I think that's a problem with a lot of cities. It's not that there's anything wrong with the architecture, it just has a lot to do with how it's laid out. That's a huge deal when it comes to skylines, I would say it's as or even more important than height. Hong Kong has that problem, although not as bad as NY.

Check out these pics of Chicago and tell me that anything else compares.
Walking on the brooklyn bridge gives you a new perspective on nyc's skyline. You have downtown bk behind you, dt manhattan to your left and midtown dominating your right. To say this is unimpressive is straightjacketabsurdinsaneism

Chicago looks less impressive in those pics. PPL get on midtown for the ESB sticking out so much. Baut in those pics sears tower sticks out aswell.

ESB aesthically speaking> sears tower
Nothing in that skyline is pucking with the chrysler building
And from the looks of it...even the bank of america tower could scrap quite a few scrapers from chicago

Please vote for the city that has the best skyline and not for the city that is your favorite!

This will give everyone an idea of height!

Chicago 177 skyscrapers @ 400ft or above
Dubai 108 skyscrapers @ 400ft or above
HK 554 skyscrapers @ 400ft or above
NYC 371 skyscrapers @ 400ft or above
Shanghai 125 skyscrapers @ 400ft or above
Tokyo 179 skyscrapers @ 400 ft or above
If we're counting skyscrapers above 400 ft. Houston & Miami are up there as well.

I seriously laugh at anyone who thinks that Chicago is ranked any less than 2nd best in the country.

I've always liked Sao Paolo. This is completely personal preference.

So I'd put it:
1. Sao Paolo
2. Hong Kong
3. Chicago
4. Seoul
5. Rio De Janeiro
6. Tokyo
7. Osaka
8. Miami
9. Santiago

I really like ones with high rises, I think it adds so much density and character.

Houston and Miami are nowhere near the ones in the poll, with 50 and 57 respectively...I won't even get into the architecture quality.
