So I have this fascination with accents, and I thought I'd ask my fellow city-data people to share what kind of accent they have! Post a video clip with the accent if you can, and tell me where you're from!
I also found this video on youtube that inspired this thread
As for my accent, it's not extreme with the southern drawl, but i draw out my words. When I talk it's really loose and lazy and at the back of the throat if that makes sense? i guess it's a light southern accent.
I went to Chicago a few summers ago, and they told me i sounded weird so i know i have some sort of southern accent, but not so sure which one.
I used to be able to do a number of English dialects pretty well: a ‘general’ England dialect, Scottish, Irish, Scots (not the same as Standard Scottish English), French, Spanish, Indian, German, Russian, southern US (southern 'gentry' and something akin to Arkansas), and a few others.
Unfortunately, as I’ve gotten older and I’ve been working on actually learning foreign languages, I’ve lost the ability to do most of them well. I still do Scottish, England general dialect, and southern US quite well. My French accented English is still pretty good. I’ll have to try recording some of them. If they are not embarrassing, I’ll post them.
