We are looking at moving to the Mt. View area. Please give us information about housing costs. Would prefer to have a small acreage. How is the weather and any other relevant information you feel that I would need.

We lived in the valley for about a year back in '95-'96 and loved it there. The winters were cold and windy (like much of Wyoming) but unlike most of the state, it's really wet there.
The snow fences are set back 100 yards from the roads because by the end of winter, the drifts have grown all the way to the road. There are 2 major rivers running the length of the valley and there are countless creeks crisscrossing the fields.
If you are into fishing and you like big water, Flaming Gorge is close by and the deer hunting is spectacular. I've seen more big mulies in the area surrounding the valley than anywhere else in the state.
The interstate is closed (usually only til 10:00 am most days) almost every day thru the 'sisters' between there and Evanston during the snowy winter months.

My wife begged me to move us back for a long time after we moved away, and I still miss the laid back attitudes and home town feelings you get from people there.

The Property Ladder, Bridger Valley Real Estate (http://realestateladder.blogspot.com/ - broken link)

Been in Wyoming 22 years. Bought here 4 years ago. Paid 53,000 for 9 acres. Prices have gone up quite a bit. Housing prices have dropped though.
The weather here is typical Wyoming. A little colder than many areas of the state, but a little less windy than most. Average last freeze is around the 10th of June, and the first freeze comes in late August. Our first year here, I did not have a snow drift fence in my back pasture, we had 10 foot drifts around the horse shelter.

Where will you be moving from? Kids? Work?
