* severe thunderstorm warning for...
Northeastern campbell county in northeastern wyoming...
Northwestern crook county in northeastern wyoming...

* until 600 pm mdt

* at 457 pm mdt...national weather service doppler radar indicated a
severe thunderstorm capable of producing quarter size hail...and
damaging winds in excess of 60 mph. This storm was located 13
miles southwest of weston...or 18 miles north of downtown
gillette...and moving northeast at 40 mph.

* locations impacted include...
Weston...rockypoint and lightning flat.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Severe thunderstorms produce damaging wind in excess of 60 miles per
hour...destructive hail...deadly lightning...and very heavy rain. For
your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of your
home or business. Heavy rains flood roads quickly so do not drive
into areas where water covers the road.

...thunderstorms with very heavy rainfall becoming increasingly
likely tonight through saturday...

.subtropical moisture will combine with a strong upper level
disturbance and moist upslope flow to allow numerous showers and
thunderstorms to develop over southeast wyoming on friday
afternoon and evening. This activity will likely persist through
much of the day on saturday...and may produce very heavy rainfall
and localized flash flooding. The greatest risk for flash flooding
will be in urban areas and those locations impacted by recent wild
fires.

The national weather service in cheyenne has issued a

* flash flood watch for portions of east central wyoming...south
central wyoming and southeast wyoming...including the
following areas...in east central wyoming...central laramie
range and southwest platte county...east platte county and
north laramie range. In south central wyoming...north snowy
range foothills...shirley basin and snowy range. In southeast
wyoming...central laramie county...laramie valley...south
laramie range and south laramie range foothills.

* through saturday afternoon

* slow moving showers and thunderstorms will develop over the
snowy and laramie mountain ranges and adjacent high plains on
friday afternoon and evening. This activity will persist through
the day on saturday...and will be capable of producing locally
very heavy rainfall which may lead to flash flooding.

* excessive rainfall could result in rapid runoff...which may
cause flooding of urbanized areas and small creeks and streams.
Burn sites of ongoing and recent wild fires may also be at risk
for flash flooding and possible landslides...especially along
the steeper slopes of the snowy range.

warning above 5000 feet...which is in effect from noon saturday

* affected area...in idaho...fire zone 410 upper snake river
valley/idaho falls blm above 5000 feet.

* timing...from noon saturday until midnight saturday night.

* thunderstorms...will produce lightning activity levels of 3 or
higher.

* outflow winds...thunderstorms will produce gusts up to 30 mph.

* precipitation...precipitation from one thunderstorm should
amount to less than 0.10 of an inch.

* impacts...the frequency of lightning will support a very strong
likelihood of fire starts in receptive fuels.

...scattered dry thunderstorms expected across portions of
wyoming today and wednesday...

.a low pressure trough moving across western and central wyoming
will combine with instability and moisture to cause isolated to
scattered thunderstorms this afternoon and evening. The chance for
thunderstorms will be greatest in the mountains of the north and west.
While thunderstorms above 8500 feet will likely produce rainfall
of two tenths of an inch to one half of an inch...thunderstorms below
8500 feet will on average have less rain and more dry lightning.
Thunderstorms will be slow moving and individual cells may produce
considerable lightning. Wind gusts over 40 mph will be possible
but will be rather isolated.

wednesday night. The fire weather watch is no longer in effect.

* affected area...fire weather zone 288.

* relative humidity...15 to 25 percent.

* temperatures...highs around 80.

* lightning...scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop this
afternoon continuing through the evening. Thunderstorms will
redevelop wednesday afternoon and evening. Thunderstorms below
8500 feet will have the best threat of dry lightning with lals
of 6. Thunderstorms above 8500 feet will likely produce
rainfall of two tenths of an inch to one half of an inch.

* outflow winds...of 40 mph are possible.

* impacts...increased lightning activity on critically dry fuels
combined with low relative humidity and strong outflow winds may
produce new fire starts with rapid fire spread.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now...or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds...low relative humidity...and warm temperatures will
create explosive fire growth potential.
