I will be getting my BBA with a major in marketing but I really want to teach business and/or marketing in high schools. What are the requirements for Wyoming.

Here they'll tell you exactly what you need to do to certify to teach in Wyoming. This is through the Wyoming State Board of Education (Wyoming Professional Teaching Standards Board).

I've been checking into it myself for elementary education (need to recertify, plus my previous certification was in another state). From what I've looked at I don't think you need to take the Praxis exam since you are specializing in a particular subject. Anyway... they have lots of info here. I emailed with a question recently and they were good in getting back with me. It just might take a week or so...

I've taught business/marketing/computers in WY for 15+ years, originally got my teacher's certificate from another state. To get a teaching certificate with a business or marketing endorsement in WY (biz and mktg are separate in WY), you need to have completed a college teacher prep program that will give you what's called an institutional recommendation (usually have to complete their program and student teach). If you get this recommendation, you don't have to take the Praxis.

The other paths to certification include attempting to transfer a cert from another state (I did it over 15 years ago and it was really hard - and I've heard it's even harder now) as well as a portfolio endorsement (also quite difficult). If you have a BA/BS degree, Northern Plains Transition to Teaching may be your path. http://www.montana.edu/nptt/

Although there aren't a lot of openings in WY for biz/mktg, when there are, they are hard to fill because UWyo doesn't offer the endorsement anymore. I know Fremont County in Lander and Platte County in Chugwater currently have openings:http://www.wsba-wy.org/teach.html (broken link)

Hope this helps.
