Both the Colorado and the Columbia rivers exit into the Pacific Ocean. the Great Basin is a closed drainage and the water evaporates. So that is really just a normal divide between the Pacific Drainage and the Great Basin sump.

ye but the pacific drainage end up being miles apart the Columbia at Astoria Oregon. The Colorado usually is diverted enough it doesn't reach the Ocean...down in Old Mexico
