In boys basketball at Casper yesterday, Kaycee Buckaroos won a buzzer-beater to upend Burlington by 57-56 and deny Burlington what would have been their 5th consecutive state championship.

1A girls basketball, Little Snake topped Cokeville in a low scoring game by 32 to 23.

2A girls basketball, Sundance got their first ever GBB championship over Indian by 44 to 39.

And in 2A boys, Pine Bluffs (without Hunter Thompson, who is now at UW, but with four Fornstrom's)
continued their rivalry with Wind River, winning 73 to 68. And the weather was nicer this year, too.

Traditional rivalry making comeback tonight in 3 and 4A Boys championships with Cody and Buffalo meeting up...have
to give the edge to the Bison since they have been dominant so far, and 4A brings back the Sheridan versus Campbell
County matchup, just like the old days when Gillette only had one school.

Last night, Buffalo won in 3A boys. Douglas in girls. In 4A, Camels take home both boys and girls state championships
...so I guess not all the athletes went over to Thunder Basin after all.

I think both Camel teams wanted this one bad. Looked for awhile like the Girls' 4A Championship game might be Gillette vs. Gillette, but I know the Camels really wanted to take it to Cheyenne East, who upset them last season. They did that. I didn't go to the games, just listened to them on the radio wishing I was there.
