New York ranked least friendly state in America, survey claims
A Message from U.S. Bank3 hours ago

In a survey conducted by travel website, Big 7 Travel, 1.5 million people weighed in on the “friendliest states in America” – and New York ranked dead last.

If you’re looking to see some friendly faces, you apparently shouldn’t head to The Empire State.

In a survey conducted by travel website Big 7 Travel, 1.5 million people weighed in on the “friendliest states in America” — and New York ranked dead last.

Though Big 7 Travel tried to soften the blow with an explainer — “locals might seem a bit gruff at first (even upstate!), but it’s a melting pot of many cultures and the neighborhoods in each borough of NYC have a community feel if you manage to stick it out for long enough” — it was clear that the majority of Americans do not consider the Big Apple as a nice place to visit.

It seemed to be a trend with the Northeast, as four of the bottom five states were all found in the region: Delaware, Massachusetts and New Jersey ranked 48, 47 and 46, respectively.

The top five were a little more spread out, however.

Wyoming ranked fifth with voters pleased with its “sense of community” and “safe” feeling. Texas took the fourth spot, bested by South Carolina in third. Tennessee continued the trend of Southern hospitality and took the second spot.

But, in what may come as a surprise to the South, a Midwest state was crowned with the top spot: Minnesota was ranked No. 1 as the friendliest state in America.

According to the survey, the North Star State is “hard to match, with a homey feel and locals who go the extra mile to welcome tourists.”

“It’s called ‘Minnesota Nice’ for a reason.”

Ohhh you betcha, Minnesota is a super-great place to be, and if you are looking for a good place to eat (while visiting) I highly recommend the Radisson...in Edina.

The buffet is to DIE for !

...and it's VERY reasonable.

(yes...'Fargo' is among my top-five FAVORITE movies'.)

I haven't been to any of the other states listed, but I'll tell you what there's a huge difference in friendliness from where we lived in California, to living in Wyoming now. I can honestly say that Wyomingites are some of the nicest people I've ever met. I also agree that I feel super safe living where we do now, and I love our town and valleys sense of community. ❤️

I doubt seriously those places are friendly for people of color. I've been to TN & SC, they definitely are not IMO. I've heard mixed things about TX. NY's ranking does not surprise me, the residents of that state tend to be supreme jerkwads.

I used to build vacation homes in a region that is nearly equidistant from NYC and Philly. Since I used a realtor to sell the homes, I never knew who the buyers were, until the deal was signed. I typically found the folks from Philly to be pleasant and reasonable. The NYC buyers? Well, they ranged from tolerable, to a PITA, and on occasion, absolutely hateable.

I recently spent 2 weeks in Wyoming and I couldn't believe how nice the drivers were. I never had anyone tailgate me, I didn't get cutoff once, no stupid turns right in front of me, people were using their blinkers. It was like driver heaven. I'm guessing this isn't the case everywhere in Wyoming but from Sundance to Sheridan to Jackson to Cheyenne I didn't have a problem.

I will say this, then I got back to Milwaukee and realized how bad and agressive we drive here, I got so used to the nice drivers of the west than when I came back home I was amazed on how rude we driver here.

Most Wyoming drivers aren't too bad although I think a lot of people in Cheyenne drive very slow.

I LOVE driving in Wyoming. Best driving experience anywhere, and I have been all over this country. The worst thing I have run into is the big rigs blocking all lanes up big hills on 80. But that happens everywhere.

So WY is friendly because of a lack of diversity per the original post? Hmm. So the Rock Springs Massacre was not a bad thing.

We’ve lived here about 7 months now and the contrast in drivers between here and where we came from in southern Cal is amazing. Yet to have one person honk their horn here in anger or be rude in any way.
