Hi Everyone - We are looking to build a new home in Baxter Village using Saussy Burbank and we have a few questions.
- Can anyone that has built with Saussy Burbank describe their experience?
- Were you able to negotiate the price at all?
- Did you use one of the preferred lenders that they provided?
We purchased a new Saussy Burbank home in mid 2008.. a few months before the market fell on its face. This may not be apples to apples for what you're considering, but here was our experience:
We weren't involved in the building process, but we purchased it from them as part of their inventory. We were able to negotiate the asking price (down roughly 10%), but they had been sitting on this home for several months - the financing of the original purchaser fell through. So they may have been eager just to get rid of it.
We went through Wachovia, which I don't think was one of their preferred lenders.
Overall, we had a great experience with them. They fixed everything we pointed out on the initial walk through (which really wasn't much.. drywall nails, and that sort of thing). Their foreman found several things on his own and fixed them without us even asking.
Then there was a 1 year full warranty on the house (covering paint, drywall nails, anything and everything). We waited exactly a year, then did a complete run through of the house and gave them a rather large list of every little nit picky thing we could find. They fixed all of it without any flack, and even touched up some things we didn't catch. They also left us a good amount of touch up paint when they left.
I do know that they went through some hard times, like a lot of building companies.. and when we worked with them on the home warranty stuff, I got the impression that they were running a skeleton crew. But they still got the job done, and well.
It's been an excellent house. These days a lot of builders will cut corners, but this place was very well built. They have a good reputation around here, as far as I've heard. Unless they've really taken a dive since last year, I'd recommend them for sure.
I agree with Init very well built. We've been in our Saussy House for 6 years and love it. The construction was awesome and our walk thru was also a wonderful experience. Hope that helps
we just had our 6 year anniversary in our home... we are in lake wylie ... and we have really enjoyed our saussy burbank house. my only complaint is the number of nail pops we have had to deal with are ridiculous. they fixed most of them the first year but i would guestimate another 30 popped out. they should've used screws not nails... and i think that is the problem. other than that, i would build another one in a heart beat. good luck! you won't be sorry..
Hey everyone I also I’m building with Saussy Burbank in Baxter Village and I love Baxter Village and we went with Saussy Burbank because I loved the floor plan and they were about the cheapest builder in the neighborhood so if anyone else has any more comments I would love to hear them also to the person who wrote this how has your Saussy Burbank house been and how do you like Baxter Village
We are now in our new house in Baxter. We couldn't have been happier with the building process with Saussy Burbank. We only had minor issues with the house, but they fixed everything right away. I would recommend Saussy Burbank to anyone looking to build in the Charlotte area.
