Im trying to find 55 and up and/or rent by income type apartments for my mom, whos going to be moving to either York or Lancaster County. Im in Fort Mill, so somewhere within a half hour of there would be great. She isnt working right now, but plans to get something once shes down here, so something thats based upon your income would be nice. It would need to have a place for her to park, and not one of these multi-level places either. Something with a small yard/garden area would be a plus.

Ive been to Sun City but i believe everyone who lives there has bought their place, and we're looking for something thats rented or based upon income every month (my grandmother currently has something like this).

Your mom can rent in Sun City. We are moving to SCCL next week from NJ and we are renting for six months to see if we like it. They have ranchhomes with small backyards she would like. The Clair team specialized in rentals and purchases for SCCL. Good luck!

You can call the York County Council on Aging (803) 327-6694. Rock Hill has apartments for seniors based upon their income. Also you call call the Fort Mill Housing Authority for additional leads at (803) 547-6787. Be sure and specify 'senior citizen based on income.' We have some low income apartments in RH where thugs dwell.

HA, I dont want my mom living somewhere where "thugs dwell"!!!!!

The issue is, she still is living in CT and doesnt have a job. So I cant have her apply for anything since shes not a resident. She wont have a income when she gets a place, but might once she starts living here, so im unsure how much I can get done for her. I can still call and ask though.

I couldnt find any rentals in Sun City, and if its 6 months rental to buy thats not what we are looking for. Shes going to sell her house in CT, but we dont want to buy again.
