Any longtime residents have opinions about the mayoral race w/o getting too political? Both major candidates seem to have a lot of support. What are the differences in the platforms between the incumbent and the challenger? Sources would be good if you have any facts. I want to make an informed decision but have only been in Ft Mill since June.

I am going to do some research and post what I find. Local politics affect us more than national elections most of the time. I really am interested to see how the candidates will handle growth. I am also going to see if I can find a sample ballot for my voting district.

Charles Powers has been mayor for as long as I can remember (moved there as a kid in the early 80's). Unless he retires, I wouldn't expect anything different. Now the school board and city council races are always intriguing.

Many of my neighbors said teh same thing about Charles Powers. They also say maybe it is time for a change. I am curious as to why ? Nobody has mentioned any complaints about him that I have heard. I have not been here long enough to know for myself. I am checking into the web site of Danny Funderburk does anyone know if Charles Powers has one. What are some key issues in the local races that they may differ on ? .

I think growth and annexation are going to be the big issues as well as the upcoming school vote.

Maybe so, I'm sure the complexity of the job has grown. I wonder if it's just new FM'ers that are suggesting a change or some of everybody, new and old? He is getting up there in age.

There are a LOT of long time residents supporting Danny. Danny is not new to Fort Mill politics as served on council as mayor pro-tem. This is just coming from what I've seen on his site though.

Groove-

Just wanted to let you know I met Danny Funderburk at the Main Street Art show this past Saturday. He was really nice and answered all my questions. Turns out both he and the mayor were invited to speak at the next WHitegrove HOA meeting. He has accepted I am not sure about the Mayor. I am really looking forward to it.
