Does anyone have an opinion on these schools? I went to greatschools.net and there are only a couple of comments. Also, I've seen the test scores, but I'm looking for more parent feedback. Particularly around using these schools as opposed to private. Also, any thoughts on the Springfield neighborhood? It's beautiful, but I don't know much about what might be going up around it and the area in general. Thank you!!

I can't add much except to say that Nation Ford High just opened. My sister-in-law teaches there and my nephew attends. So far, they are both happy there. In general Fort Mill schools all have outstanding reputations.

I'd like to hear from more students and/or teachers about how the first year is going at Nation Ford High. We have our home for sale in FL now and we are hoping to be in Fort Mill by summer '08. My husband is already working in Charlotte and living in a condo there. I understand that NFHS begins at 7th grade. Is that true? My son will be in 7th grade next year and it seems like that might make the transition easier, because he wouldn't be the only one in a strange new school.
Thanks in advance,
Shelly

No, Nations Ford High School starts in the 9th grade. For this year only, it ends with the 11th, since it is a brand new school. Next year, of course, it will have a senior class. Middle school students in the immediate area of NFHS go to Fort Mill Middle, which is only a few years old and only a mile or so away.

Thanks moedog, I don't know where I got that info. I have heard and read a lot of great stuff about the middle school. I just hope we make it there by next year. This Florida real estate market is crazy.

we are moving to the Springflield school district and my 2 girls can't wait to attend the middle school. I'd love to hear feedback as well if anyone has anything to offer. I did call the middle school early September to get info on how to register and they seemed very disorganized but it was early in the school year. The folks I spoke to were very nice and I plan to call back early 1st quarter 08.
