My heavenly 30 minute commute has turned into an hour all of a sudden, starting this past Monday. Is this what it's going to be like from now on? I-77 backed up to Exit 88 and moving at a crawl all the way uptown? Anybody else facing this?
Yes, I travel up S. Tryon and we always get the I-77 spillover. It's been terrible since school started and even worse this week. I have no idea why unless there is some road construction somewhere.

It has been slow this week. I've noticed a few fender benders these last few days on the way up 77. Usually, that's all it takes.
Wow - that's a relief. I certainly noticed the difference when school started, but this week has been far worse than any time since then. Glad to hear that it may be an anomaly. Hope there weren't injuries.
infrastructure is poor. The 485 heading west every day is crowded all the time.
I'm well aware of that. That's a big part of why we moved out of South Charlotte. I'm just worried that Fort Mill is getting that way much sooner than I'd anticipated. I figured we had a good 5 years until it got as bad as South Charlotte.
